#5) Golden Streets (Charles Billingsley, 1999) No one in heaven wants to come back to earth. The rest of our labor in Christ will be sweet and satisfying. While the separation from loved ones will be difficult to go through, there’s a certain comfort knowing that they are no longer suffering in this world. “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his” ( Hebrews 4:9-10) Yet we can imagine it in our spirits when we sense the excitement of what it will be like-seeing Jesus, being reunited with loved ones, and breathing in the glorious beauty that will surround us. Our human minds can’t comprehend the beauty of heaven or being in the presence of our Lord and King. “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”-the things God has prepared for those who love him” ( 1 Corinthians 2:9). Yet at that very moment, they step into heaven- peace, joy, and wonderment will encompass the Lord’s faithful. Many believers are hassled, tortured, and killed every day because of their faith. In this world, we have much pain and every day our hearts break at the suffering that sin has unleashed upon the world. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” ( Revelation 21:4). “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
